For the last couple years, the Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson has been one of the top candidates for a head coaching position. It has been confirmed that Johnson has backed out of the running for the head coaching jobs for the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks for another chance to take the Lions to the Super Bowl in 2024.
Johnson, 37, has been with team since 2019. He was hired as the team’s offensive quality control coach. He was later promoted to tight ends coach and has spent the last 2 years as the team’s offensive coordinator. Amon-Ra St Brown knew Johnson was different when he was the tight ends coach. «It was the way he saw the plays and explained it in detail to the team», ARSB explained. Johnson has also taken the running game to a whole new level this season. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for 23 touchdowns and 1,960 yards. This team, headed by Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson, will be a force again in 2024.
