As Monday March 11th draws closer, the excitement builds. The frenzy for free agents begins. Who goes where? Is it a good fit? Did they take a pay cut to go there? So many questions about to be answered.
The Bengals already placed their franchise tag on WR Tee Higgins and re-signed Offensive Guard Cody Ford. Other teams have tagged and re-signed their guys as well.
The NFL’s annual frenzy for free agents starts tomorrow.
The list of who’s left grows shorter every day. So many big names aren’t available anymore.
For instance, the Ravens placed their franchise tag on DT Justin Madubuike. The Colts placed theirs on WR Michael Pittman Jr. The Bucs on S Antoine Winfield Jr. The Jags did theirs on Edge Josh Allen. And the Bears placed theirs on CB Jaylon Johnson. The list goes on…Panthers did Edge Brian Burns, Chiefs on CB L’Jarius Sneed, the Patriots placed their transition tag on S Kyle Dugger and the Chiefs re-signed Chris Jones.
But there’s still a lot of great players left on the list.
From the players that were on the team last year and are now free agents. To the players becoming free agents on other teams. My favorites are always the ones that we can take from our biggest competitors.
The list still has names like DT Christian Wilkins, OL Danielle Hunter, OL Mike Onwenu, OT Tyron Smith, RB Saquon Barkley, RB Austin Eckler, RB Josh Jacobs, WR Calvin Ridley, WR Marquise Brown, QB Kirk Cousins, and so many more.
In addition to the players from the Bengals that are now free agents as well. DJ Reader, Sam Hubbard, BJ Hill, Jonah Williams, Chidobe Awuzie, Tyler Boyd, Tanner Hudson, Irv Smith Jr, Trenton Irwin, and more.
We know they need multiple TE’s, so they’ll probably try to get Drew Sample back & Tanner Hudson. And maybe even try to get Hayden Hurst back. Most likely getting at least 1 in the draft as well. Brock Bowers?? I’d love that for them to fill the Boyd void and more. Ben Sinnot? who knows. Yes, I think that Boyd will be gone.
They also have a real need for DT, RT, Nose Tackle and more. I’ve heard a lot of maybe JC Latham OL , Amarius Mims OT, or Jer’Zhan(Johnny)Newton DL for the draft. Maybe they spend big since they have enough cap to do so and get Christian Wilkins(I know, proabably not). And then I really think they try to get DJ Reader back and Sam Hubbard back.
Who goes where is any one’s guess right now. And there are a lot of those guesses out there.
