With the 2024 NFL Draft over, and the draft picks now known, have the Cincinnati Bengals become Predators or Prey in the Jungle?
Overall, I would give the Cincinnati Bengals 2024 Draft Picks a B+. The experts have it anywhere from A- to B-, so it’s really pretty close.
Here are a few things about their 10 newest additions that can help you make your own decision.
Cincinnati Bengals 2024 Draft Picks Day 1 and 2
Day 1 and Day 2 brought us 4 draft picks. I thought they were pretty good.
Pick 18 of round 1 they chose Amarius Mims OT Georgia. Mims is an extraordinarily large man. 6’7″ 340 lbs. A freak athlete you could say. https://x.com/GrahamCoffeyDC/status/1783682684734292299
Everything you can want in a starting tackle…. size, technique, etc. Unfortunately, he didn’t play a lot in college, which can be a negative in some people’s eyes. But he sure was great when he did. https://x.com/PFF_Bengals/status/1783680252906004505
Pick 49 of round 2 was Kris Jenkins DT Michigan 6’3′ 305 lbs. They’re really hoping he’ll play a role in replacing DJ Reader. He’s a gap plugging tackle they think has more potential than was ever shown at Michigan. With jaw dropping strength, he’s a great addition to the rotation. https://x.com/KrisJenkinsJr1/status/1784017766401347807
Pick 80 round 3 was Jermaine Burton WR Alabama. 6’0″ 200 lbs. A WR with some red flags for off the field incidents, but a lot of true potential. His trainer, Bengals legend TJ Houshmandzadeh, was fired up about the pick. For a team not sure what’ll happen with Tee Higgins’s contract situation, this was a great pick. Some may say the Steal of the Draft. https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/lists/bengals-draft-grade-jermaine-burton-pick/
Another round 3 Pick was #97, McKinnley Jackson DT/NT Texas A&M. 6’2′ 326 lbs. As Zach Taylor said, «there aren’t a lot of NT with the size of McKinnley Jackson in the draft». He’s a great run stuffer.
Day 3 Draft Picks
The final day of the draft was closed out with 6 more picks.
Pick 115 round 4 was Erick All TE Iowa. A TE with a few red flags, like life changing spinal surgery and a torn ACL last season. If you put aside the obvious risk, All has the potential to be another of the great TE‘s that have come from TE University. https://x.com/LndsPatterson/status/1784265782358098367
Pick 149 round 5 was Josh Newton CB TCU. Being very versatile, and having a lot of starting experience, he’s an ideal addition to the CB group.
Pick 194 round 6 Tanner McLachlan TE Arizona. McLachlan balances out the high-risk Erick All pick, by giving them some nice, pro-ready abilities, that should have him instantly in the mix.
Pick 214 round 6 Cedric Johnson DE Ole Miss. Adding to the pass rush, he shows a lot of potential for a value pick.
Pick 224 round 7 Daijahn Anthony S Ole Miss. Having experience at both CB & S, his appeal is obvious.
Pick 237 round 7 Matt Lee C Miami. An athletic quality pass protector, he’ll compete in the center room, and could even get reps at guard. He’ll be a great backup for Ted Karras.
And that makes up the Cincinnati Bengals 2024 Draft Class.
Like I said before, I’d give them a B+. There’s a lot of potential there. They filled most of what they needed. A few choices had me wondering. But overall, I thought they did rather well!
How do you think they did?
